Mizuho Bank Kyoto Chuo Branch
At the corner of the busy business district of Karasuma Sanjo, stands a red brick building with a green mansard roof. This building was originally built in 1906 as the Kyoto Branch of Daiichi Bank (currently Mizuho Bank). It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno, who also designed such famous buildings as Tokyo Station and the Bank of Japan headquarters. The original construction, however, was torn down in 1999 due to structural issues and a replica of the original was constructed in 2003.
