Inside the Palace
To see inside the Kyoto Imperial Palace, you need to make a reservation in advance for a guided tour if you are there during any other time than when the Palace is open to the public for one week in spring and one week in autumn. During these times when the Palace is open to the public, visitors can enter the palace through Gishumon Gate, which used to be used as the entrance for court nobles.
Soon after entering the palace, you will arrive at the Okurumayose building, which was originally used as a carriage porch. The picture shows a beautiful folded screen displayed within the building.
