Higashi Honganji Amida Hall Gate
Looking out at Karasuma Street across the Amida Hall Gate of Higashi Honganji Temple. The gate, which was rebuilt in 1911, has a karahafu-style undulating roof. The carving of the wooden door has a paulownia crest, which is the secondary family crest of the imperial family, which indicates that the temple had been approved by emperor at one time as a high-ranked temple. By the way, the sign beside the gate door reads "pigeon pea, 100 yen."
